Vandals cause $20K in damage

Lambton OPP are investigating substantial damage done to a large events tent that had been set up near Petrolia Line and England Street, an area commonly known as the flats.

After initial investigation, police found that between 10 p.m. Saturday July 15 and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday July 16, unknown suspects had used a sharp object to make several cuts into tent panels, damaging a total of 12 panels. The cost to repair damages is estimated to be about $20,000.

The vandals had also thrown 150 folding chairs that had been set up for an event to be held on Sunday.

The Lambton Crime Unit and Scenes of Crime Officers are currently involved in the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 519-882-1011.
