Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is hosting their first ever Playhouse Fundraiser this month, which will see eight unique playhouses raffled off at Lambton Mall March 24.

The Home Away from Home event is looking to highlight the fact that a number of youth in the community consider Rebound or other places of comfort as their second home, said Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator, Emma Mallon.

Rebound’s youth committee came up with the name for the event, and Mallon noted that businesses in Lambton County have been given the opportunity to support Rebound and give back to the community.

Mallon said the eight playhouses have been generously built and provided by the local 1256 Carpenters Union.

“When the carpenters first learnt of our plans to organize this raffle, they were eager to be our major sponsor and take on the challenge of building the playhouses,” Mallon said in an email. “This is a popular fundraiser in other parts of the country and something that we wanted to see come to Sarnia-Lambton.”

Each of the playhouses is custom built and unique. They have been put on display at Lambton Mall as of March 10 and will be there until March 24th, with the draw being held the final day at 1 p.m.

Mallon said all are welcome to purchase as many tickets as they wish. Each ticket gains you one entry to the playhouse of your choice, and can be purchased at the Lambton Mall from staff and volunteers who will be available on site all through March break and weekends.

Businesses looking to be Playhouse Sponsors can also purchase a book of tickets to give away to employees, colleagues, customers, families or community groups.

“We are really excited to partner with Lambton Mall for this project,” Mallon said. “The Easter Bunny will be at the mall as well so we will have the opportunity to create a really exciting, magical place for children to visit during the month of March.”
