The federal government is inviting employers to apply online at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/csj2012 for funding from the Canada Summer Jobs Program to help them hire students this summer. Applications, also available at the Service Canada Centre, must be submitted before Wednesday, Feb.

NationalBy-election date set for Layton's seat

A by-election will be held in Jack Layton’s former riding on March 12, the prime minister’s office announced Sunday. The riding of Toronto-Danforth, which Layton claimed in 1997, has not been represented in the House of Commons since the former NDP leader died from cancer in August.
