Petrolia Bantam Girls Hockey Team Wins Silver

Petrolia Bantam Girls won silver in the C division of the St. Thomas Panthers tournament this weekend. During round robin play, they defeated St. Thomas 2-1 on goals by Tristan Jackson and Emma Mundy. Goalie Jodi Garrett earned shut outs against Woodstock 1-0 on a goal by Bailey Shannon and Tilsonburg 2-0 on goals by Mundy and Shannon. They lost 2-0 to St. Mary's.
They met St. Mary's for a re-match in the final and took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Mundy. Late in the 3rd, St. Mary's tied the game. The game continued through overtime and ultimately a shoot out which ended in a St. Mary's win of 1-0. It was a tough loss but an impressive team effort that had improved with every game.
Adding assists throughout the tournament were Delaney Cullinan (4), Ashley Simpson (3), Jasmine Martin, Kayla Hammond and Jackson. All players contributed with hard work and spirit every game through offense added by Mackenzie Limb, Riley Cullinan and Hollie Walsh and defense by Simone Bouffard, Lindsay Kirkland, Hannah Mullin and Shayna McNally.
The team is coached by Kailey Whitlaw, assistants James Whitlaw, Rob Cullinan, Doug Hammond and trainer Chrissy Jackson.
